View Full Version : Quarry Parking Crisis

Climbers,

Over the past few weeks, climbers heading up to the Bolton Quarry to climb have been parking inappropriately and aggravating the neighbors. We have received complaints and this type of thing certainly does not cast a favorable light on climbers in the Bolton community.

Parking in the quarry is acceptable; however, try to use good judgment if the road is muddy in the spring. CRAG-VT spent a ton of money fixing the road and we would much rather be protecting climbing resources than fundraising to rebuild the road again.

We are currently in the process of trying to arrange an acceptable plowing arrangement. If the quarry road is not plowed or is impassable, please park at the Smiley school at the base of the Bolton Mountain road and approach on foot via Green Mountain road. Hiking behind the Smily school and crossing Gene Armstrong's land on the VAST trails is currently permitted, but he is VERY concerned about unleashed dogs. If you have a dog, please keep it leashed or we WILL lose access immediately. Leashing your dog should ensure its health and safety crossing Armstrong's property.

CRAG-VT will be posting signs with more parking details than I've described above, but I wanted to let people know what the current status is. Please heed the signs; this is important! Please don't be lazy- park in approved places; the approach to the Quarry is VERY short even from the Smiley school.

We are continually working with the Bolton community to preserve climbing- it is essential that we be responsible neighbors. CRAG-VT is counting on you to do your part…
