Climbers,

It's been a while since my last update so here's the latest from CRAG-VT. First, the Upper West project is going great-- we've raised roughly $16,000 on our way to our $43,000 goal! Many thanks to all of you who have renewed your membership, bought a Climb Local T-shirt, or kicked us a buck or two at our local retail donation boards. Every dollar counts! You can track our fundraising progress on our new "crag-o-meter" on the CRAG-VT web site. (http://www.cragvt.org)

We have recently received approval on our subdivision from the Bolton Development Review board! This is great news as it means we now have permission from the town to create a new lot from the two preexisting lots which are home to the cliff and boulder field. This, coupled with the signed purchase and sales agreements we have with the cliff's owners, puts us in a position of needing only to raise funds to protect Upper West forever. To that end we have applied for several other grants and we are planning some big fundraisers for the early spring. I hope you can join in the fun with some of the events we have planned. More on this soon, stay tuned...

We've done a lot to get the word out this winter by setting up our table, handing out stickers, and talking to people about Upper West. So far this winter we've been to Telluride, Banff, IceBash, and a number of evenings talking to climbers at Petracliffs. I'd like to give a big thank you to all of the volunteers who've come out to represent CRAG-VT including a special thanks to Maureen Whalley, Lena Molinari and Devon Karn, three new volunteers who have done a ton over the past few months. Many thanks also to Bert Severin for hosting Icebash 2009 and pulling together a raffle to support CRAG-VT. Thanks also to John Abbott and UVM for their ongoing support.
